descriptions:
Migrating to IPv6: A Case
Study
– Are you planning on
rolling out IPv6 in your
organization?
There is more than
one way to deploy this new
networking protocol.
This workshop
explores some of the various
methods and demonstrates one
solution.
Find out about IPv6,
its benefits, capabilities,
transition mechanisms, and
what you should be doing to
get ready for IPv6. Learn
about transition mechanisms
used in migrating to IPv6
and how these mechanisms are
implemented in the Honolulu
Community College network.
IT
Troubleshooting Panel
Discussion
– How often do you scratch
your head wondering how you
can solve your IT problems?
Do you have trouble
finding the right answer to
your IT questions? Join a
panel of PCATT/Honolulu
Community College IT
professionals as they
discuss common IT problems.
Email your IT
questions ahead of time to
Jerry Cerny, PCATT/Honolulu
Community College Programs
and Training Manager, at
jerry@hcc.hawaii.edu, so the
panel can research and
be ready to help you
with your specific IT
questions.
Open-source Ticket Request
System –
Open-source Ticket Request
System (OTRS), is an
open-source, highly
scalable, multi-user free
help desk tracking system
that a company,
organization, or other
entity can use to manage the
thousands of incoming
inquiries, complaints,
support requests, or defect
reports and any associated
information for a network.
In this seminar, we will see
how OTRS displays and
manages a ticket, showing
what happened to the ticket
within its life cycle. And,
we'll discuss the many other
beneficial options for OTRS
use.
Ruby on
Rails
– An introduction to a new
web technology that will
enable you to build web
based projects faster,
cheaper, and with a higher
success rate.
Whether you are
building applications for
external clients or for your
own team, you must check
this out. Ruby on
Rails is a breakthrough in
lowering the barriers of
entry to programming. Powerful
web applications that
formerly might have taken
weeks or months to develop
can be produced in a matter
of days.
